Yes. SmartHR Kenya is available on both Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store). The app works on any smartphone running Android 8.0+ or iOS 14+. It is lightweight and optimised for Kenyan network conditions, so it performs well even on entry-level devices and 3G connections.
Yes. The app is built offline-first for Kenyan field conditions. Employees can clock in, clock out, and log field activities without an internet connection. All data — including GPS coordinates and photos — is captured at the time of the action and stored locally. When the device reconnects, records sync automatically with no duplicates.
When an employee taps Clock In, the app captures their GPS coordinates and a mandatory selfie photo. The system checks the location against geo-fence boundaries you set around your offices or client sites. If the employee is outside the allowed radius, the punch is flagged for supervisor review. This prevents buddy punching and confirms physical presence at the work site.
Yes. Once payroll is processed, employees can view their payslip for any month directly in the app. The payslip shows a full breakdown of earnings (basic salary, allowances, overtime) and deductions (PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, loans). Employees can also download the payslip as a PDF to share with banks or landlords.
Employees open the Leave section, select the leave type (annual, sick, maternity, etc.), pick the dates, and submit. They can see their remaining leave balance before applying. The request goes to their supervisor for approval via push notification. Employees get notified instantly when their leave is approved or declined — no need to follow up with HR.
Yes. Supervisors and HR managers receive push notifications for pending leave requests, expense claims, attendance corrections, and loan applications. They can review details and approve or reject with a single tap — no need to log into the web dashboard. The approval workflow supports multiple levels, so requests can escalate automatically if a supervisor does not act within a set time.
